About This Repair Shop

Keeping the Panhandle Productive Since 1981

For over four decades, Paul's Parts has been a cornerstone of the Lubbock community. You might remember us from our original two-story shop off 19th and Quaker, but today, you’ll find us at our new home on 117th and Frankford Avenue. Under the steady leadership of Paul Ellis, our mission has remained unchanged for 45 years: providing the South Plains with top-tier equipment and the technical "know-how" to keep it running for a lifetime.

We operate with a sense of informed confidence that only comes from nearly half a century in the trade. We aren’t just here to sell you a mower; we’re here to ensure your investment stands up to the rugged West Texas environment. As a family-rooted business, we stand behind every product and repair, blending old-school values with manufacturer-certified technical training.

Mastery Over Every Small Engine

Whether you’re managing a residential lawn or a commercial landscaping fleet, equipment downtime is a headache you don’t need. Our mechanics are famous for being able to fix just about anything with a small engine. We dive deep into the mechanics of your machinery, ensuring that "unparalleled service" is more than a slogan—it’s a guarantee.

Our Specialized Maintenance and Repair Services:

  • Precision Fuel & Ignition Service: Expert carburetor cleaning and ignition system repairs to solve starting issues in their tracks.
  • Complete Seasonal Tune-Ups: Comprehensive care including oil changes, spark plug replacements, and air filter maintenance.
  • Critical Component Care: Professional blade sharpening, belt replacements, and specialized generator repair.
  • Manufacturer-Backed Expertise: Certified service for industry leaders like Stihl, Honda, Gravely, Ariens, and California Trimmer.

The Paul's Parts Edge

What truly sets us apart is our philosophy of "staying small while selling big." We carry a massive inventory of parts for almost every brand on the market, meaning we can often get you back in action while other shops are still waiting on a delivery. Our expertise extends to specialty brands like Classen, Little Wonder, and Kawasaki Engines, giving us a technical edge in the Panhandle.

Our edge comes from 45 years of listening to our customers. We’ve recently improved our lineup to include the latest from Gravely and Ariens, ensuring you have access to the most durable mowers available today. When you buy from us, you aren't just getting a machine; you’re getting a partner who has the parts and the skill to support it for decades.

While the technicians at Paul's Parts in Lubbock clearly know their stuff when it comes to riding mower repair, the overall experience could definitely be better. There is no denying their mechanical expertise—they diagnosed the issues with my equipment quickly and demonstrated a high level of technical proficiency—but the customer service side of the business leaves a lot to be desired. It is not the most welcoming environment, and the staff isn't exactly a friendly group, which makes the transaction feel a bit cold and transactional.

Waited for a carburetor for 4-5 days, only to get home and find a linkage was missing from the brand new Briggs and Stratton carb. Now, I can’t complete the fix and they are closed. I’m sure I’ll be waiting for another for yet another week, if they don’t hassle me. Extremely POOR experience from the supposed part experts- 5 thumbs down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about lawn mower repair services

Most lawn mowers need annual maintenance including oil changes, blade sharpening, and air filter replacement. In Lubbock, TX, we recommend servicing before the spring mowing season.

Common signs include difficulty starting, uneven cuts, excessive vibration, strange noises, or smoke coming from the engine. Don't ignore these warning signs.

Basic repairs like blade sharpening typically cost $15-$30, while more complex repairs like carburetor rebuilds can range from $50-$150. Get a quote before authorizing work.

If repair costs exceed 50% of a new mower's price, replacement is usually smarter. However, quality mowers are often worth repairing even after many years.

Simple repairs take 1-2 days. More complex engine work may take 3-5 days, especially during peak season in Lubbock, TX when shops are busiest.

Yes. Most repair shops in Lubbock, TX service riding mowers, zero-turns, and tractors in addition to push mowers.

Drain the fuel or run the tank empty, disconnect the spark plug, and clean off excess grass and debris. This helps the technician diagnose issues faster.

Many shops offer pickup and delivery services for an additional fee, especially for riding mowers that are difficult to transport.

Look for shops with good reviews, certified technicians, and transparent pricing. Ask about warranties on parts and labor.

Regularly change the oil, clean or replace air filters, sharpen blades, and use fresh fuel with stabilizer. These simple tasks prevent most common problems.
